How to setup an iPhone 4 on GCI's Network

iPhone 4 Settings Setup Instructions

Note: GCI support for Apple iPhone 4 is limited to entering / checking settings (Data, MMS & SMS) and email setup only for factory unlocked devices.

1. Make sure your computer is up-to-date.

iPhone 4 Registration Instructions

(Note: Prior to entering settings, you must register your iPhone 4 with iTunes.)

1.Connect the iPhone 4 to your computer

2. Open iTunes

3. Select your iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Read and agree to the Apple iPhone license agreement.

5. Log in with (or create) your Apple ID

Note: You must manually perform these steps as GCI does not have the ability to send settings to an iPhone 4.

1. On the phone: Tap on Settings

2. Tap on Options, then General, then Network, then Cellular Data Network

Web Settings

Under Cellular data, tap the APN field

  • APN field: enter web.gci
  • Username: leave blank
  • Password: leave blank

3. Scroll down to the MMS section

MMS Settings

Under the MMS settings, tap each field and enter:

  • APN: enter mms.gci
  • Username: leave blank
  • Password: leave blank
  • MMSC; enter http://mmsc.gci.csky.us:6672
  • MMS Proxy: enter 209.4.229.92:9201
  • MMS Max Message Size: enter 307200
  • MMS US Prof URL: leave blank

4. For SMS (Texting) the following actions need to be completed

First, check to see what the current SMSC (SMS Message Service Center) is programmed to

Verification of current Service Center Address:

  • Open the Phone application
  • Tap on the Keypad on the bottom if necessary
  • Enter this number: *#5005*7672#
  • Press the Call button

You should get a message on the screen which displays the Service Center Address:

  • The correct address for GCI is +19074442504, if this number is displayed, not further action is required.

If the Service center address is a different number perform the following:

Clear the current Service Center Address:

  • Open the Phone Application
  • Tap on the Keypad on the bottom if necessary
  • Enter this number: ##5005*7672#
  • Press the Call button
  • A message will be displayed that the Service Center has No Address (This means the incorrect number has been properly erased)

Enter the correct Service Center Address for GCI:

  • Open the Phone application
  • Tap the Keypad on the bottom if necessary
  • Enter this number: **5005*7672*+19074442504#
  • Press the Call button
  • A message will be displayed:

    Setting Succeeded

    Service Center Address

    No Address

Perform the Verification of current Service Center Address (steps again):

  • Open the Phone application
  • Tap on the Keypad on the bottom if necessary
  • Enter this number: *#5005*7672#
  • Press the Call button

You should get a message on the screen which displays the Service Center Address:

  • Service Center address is +19074442504

5. Your settings are now complete for your iPhone 4 to work on GCI's network.
