Steps to Install the Sierra Wireless AirCard 881U

  1. Insert a SIM Card into the AirCard 881U

  2. Click OK
  3. As you go through the install steps you may need to authorize the change to your system with GCI Security Guard, or any other protection suite you may be running.

  4. TRU-Install continues to install

  5. 3G Watcher begins to install

  6. Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA)

  7. You accept the EULA by clicking on the white dot next to "I accept the terms in the license agreement"
  8. Click the Install button
  9. Program begins to install

  10. You will see a screen similar to

  12. Program finishes initial installation
  13. Click on the Finish button

  14. You may see TRU-Install start again

  15. You may see Security Guard Modification Warning, or other program warning depending on your Internet Security Suite Software Program.

  16. Click OK, or accept depending on your program. (If no warning, just continue installation)
  17. You should see a screen similar to the on below

  18. You should see the EDGE, this indicates you should have enough signal strength to connect.
  19. Click on the Connect button
  20. You need to create a profile, Click Yes

  21. Click on the drop down arrow next to Profile Name and select Cellular One USA from the list
  22. Leave the Username line blank
  23. Leave the Password line blank

  24. Click OK
  25. You should see the a message indicating 3G Watcher is connecting to the network.

  26. Select the location you will be connecting through: Home, Work or Public Location. (Microsoft VISTA Only)

  27. You should be connected to the Cellular network at this time, and on-line.
  28. You may perform a speedtest at http://speedtest.gci.net
    • For information on how to use GCI's speed test site, please click here.
    • Edge card connection is not extremely fast and speeds in the 24Kbps to 72Kbps are not unusual.
