1) What is MyGCI?
• MyGCI is our NEW website! Our goal is provide an overall better broadband
Internet experience exclusively for GCI customers:
o The best entertainment, news, local weather, sports and TV listings all in
one location.
o User Logins and personalized preferences for every member of the family.
o The convenient self-service center (My Account) allows you to change passwords
for your GCI services and check your cable modem and dialup usage.
o Extensive online technical support and system status updates are available
24/7.
o We are working hard to bring you premium services uniquely tailored for Alaskans
that save you time and money – just for being a GCI customer!
o Learn more about upcoming Webmail improvements.
2) Why do I need to sign up?
• Registration is a secure way to allow you access and change your email,
dialup, webpage and Login ID passwords. Having a unique Login ID also allows
you to personalize your news, weather, favorites, and much more.
• Because of upcoming upgrades to our Webmail program, access to the current
Webmail program will only be available for a short time. You will need a MyGCI
Login ID to access the new and improved Webmail.
3) Does it cost anything to sign up for MyGCI access?
• No, if you are a GCI customer registration is free.
4) Who can sign up for MyGCI?
• Any GCI Local, Long Distance, Internet or Cellular customer can sign up.
5) What information will I need to sign up?
• You will need your Local, Long Distance, Internet or Cellular invoice
number for Full Access.
• You will need your GCI email address and password for Limited Access.
6) What is Full Access vs. Limited Access?
• Full Access - Permits the user to purchase and change services, create
and edit all account and usernames and passwords and setup a personalized MyGCI
page.
• Limited Access - Permits the user to change only the password associated
with the single MyGCI User ID and setup a personalized MyGCI page.
7) I have a GCI email address; do I still have to sign up for a MyGCI
account?
• Yes. Because there can be multiple users on one account, you will need
to register each user. Your email address may be used as your Login ID.
8) Can I have the same Login ID and password as I do for my GCI email
address?
• Yes, as long as it is available.
9) How do I contact GCI for further information or technical support?
• Click HERE for contact information.
10) Can I have more than one user on my account?
• Yes. The site was designed to allow multiple Login IDs under one account.
This allows each family member to personalize their own MyGCI site.
11) How do I remove a user from my account?
• Click the “My Account” tab at the top of MyGCI page, and
then choose “Remove” to delete the desired user Login ID.
12) I am a Dialup customer. Can I still access the MyGCI site?
• The MyGCI site is optimized for broadband (cable modem or LiveWire)
use. Although dialup customers will be able to login, they might experience
some delays downloading multimedia content and will not have access to all premium
services.
13) What are the system requirements for MyGCI?
• The following are recommended for the best MyGCI experience:
o Windows 2000/XP
o Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
o 256MB RAM
o Real Player 6.0 or higher (for AP Videos)
o Active X Plug-In (require for video streaming)
14) How do I find my email?
• Your email is still available and can be accessed by clicking the “Email”
tab at the top of MyGCI page.
15) Where did the system status notices go?
• You can view the system status information by clicking the “Support”
tab at the top of MyGCI page.
16) Where did the technical support information go?
• You can access the support documentation by clicking the “Support”
tab at the top of MyGCI page.
17) Where is the Cable Modem and Dialup Usage information?
• You can access the cable modem and dialup usage information by clicking
the “My Account” tab at the top of MyGCI page. Under “Usage”
click on “Show”.
18) How do I personalize my homepage?
• The site was designed to allow each person to customize the look and
feel to suit their personal needs. Once you are signed up and have logged in
you may personalize your homepage as follows:
o Click the “My Preferences” tab at the top of MyGCI page. Choose
the content you want by checking or un-checking the boxes in the appropriate
columns. Click the Choose Layout tab to customize the positions of the components
on your homepage. When finished, click the Finished button at the bottom of
the page.
o You may also rearrange how information is displayed by using the red up and
down arrows located on your homepage. Clicking the red X will remove the selected
information.
19) I am not able to log-in using my browser, what should I do?
Ensure your browser supports SSL v3 or TLSv1.
To ensure proper Internet Secuirty, some security changes my be necessary on your browser.
- Internet Explorer 4.x will not be able to log-in. Please download a newer browser.
- Internet Explorer 5.x users need to set the following. GCI recommends downloading
a new browser version.
- From the Menu, choose Tools
- Choose Internet Options
- Choose the Advance tab
- Scroll down to the Security heading
- Check the SSL 3.0 item
- Click OK
- Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1
- Is pre-configured to accept SSL v3 connections
- Netscape Navigator 7.x
- Is pre-configured to accept SSL v3 connections
- Netscape Navigator 4.08 up to but not including 7.x
- From the Menu choose Window
- Choose Security Info
- Scroll down to the Advanced Security (SSL) Configuration heading
- Check enable SSL v3
20) How do I change my password?
• Click the My Account tab at the top of MyGCI
page, and then choose “Edit” to change information for the desired
user Login ID
21) What if I forget my password for MyGCI?
• If you provided a valid contact email address during registration you
can retrieve your MyGCI password by clicking the “Lost Password”
link in the lower portion of the sign-in block. Note: This will not retrieve
your Login ID password, not your email password.
• If you did not provide a valid email address during signup you can contact
us to reset your password.
22) Will GCI sell or give a third party my information?
• No. GCI has technology and business policies in place to protect your
personal information. For more on how GCI protects your personal data, please
read our Privacy Statement.
23) How do I know if my system has the latest Plug-Ins, or Media Players?
• You can view the system status information by clicking on the “Support”
tab at the top of MyGCI page. Then click on Get Plug-Ins
24) Why don't some of the player controls or plug-ins work for me when
using Netscape?
• If you already had RealPlayer installed before you downloaded Netscape
you will have to re-install RealPlayer in order to make the controls work properly.
