Resolution
Step
1
- Locate the Microsoft Outlook icon on your desktop
- Right-click and select Properties
Step 2
- Click Email Accounts

Step 3
- Select Add a new e-mail account
- Click Next

Step 4
- Select POP3
- Click Next

Step 5
- Enter your user information and e-mail address information. Note: Your e-mail
address and username may not be the same, check your notes from when you first
established an account with GCI Internet.
- Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.gci.net
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gci.net

- If you have a cable modem connection you may click Test Account
Settings
Once the test is complete you should see 5 green checks
- If you have a Dial-up connection and you are connected to the internet
you can test account settings as well. If you are not connected
to the internet, the test will fail.
- If you are connected to the internet and do not get 5 green checks, you will want to verify all your settings.
Step 6
You can click More Settings to setup how you connect
to the e-mail account.
Click on the Outgoing Server tab
- Check the box labeled My server requires authentication
- Make sure the option selected is Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
Click the Connection tab:
Cable modem user
If you connect using a cable modem, you would select Connect Using My
Local Area Network
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Click Finish
Dial-up user
Click on the Outgoing Server tab
- Check the box labeled My server requires authentication
- Make sure the option selected is Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
If you connect using a Dial-Up modem, select Connect Using My Phoneline
Look under Use The Following Dial-Up Networking Connection:
- Select the drop down box and select your GCI connection
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Click Finish
Your e-mail is now configured. Return to the desktop and double-click
the Microsoft Outlook icon to start the program.
