From your phone you can get the total data sent and the total data received to assist in computing your data charges.

Nokia Phones

Go to Call Log
Go to GPRS data counter
Record the number from "All sent data"
Record the number from "All received data"
Add the two numbers: provides a sum
To get MB, take the sum and divide by 1,048,576 = MB total used
To get KB, take the sum and divide by 1024 = KB total used
Reset your data counters at the beginning of your billing cycle
Motorola Phones
Go to Recent Calls
Go to Data Volumes
All Data Sessions
Total Data Transferred
To get MB, take the sum and divide by 1,048,576 = MB total used
To get KB, take the sum and divide by 1024 = KB total used
Reset your data counters at the beginning of your billing cycle

If you have a data plan

Produce your Sum
Convert your sum to MB total used
Subtract MB total used from MB authorized on plan
If zero or less than zero, no additional charges should be incurred
If the number is greater than zero, multiply that number by 1024. This is your overage in KB.
Multiply the overage KB by 0.01
This will be your usage charge

Example: Under usage allowance on data plan

Authorized 1 MB data transfer
Sum (Phone data sent and data received totals): 943 700 B
943700 / 1048576 = 0.9MB total used
.9 is less than 1 so there are no additional charges

Example: Over usage allowance on data plan
Authorized: 1 MB data transfer
Sum (Phone data sent and data received totals): 2 213 752 B
2213752 / 1048576 = 2.11MB total used
1.0-2.11 = 1.11 over allowance
1.11 * 1024 = 1136.64KB total overage
1136.64KB * 0.01 = $11.37 in overage charges

If you have No Data plan

Take the sum divide by 1024 = KB total used
Take KB total used * 0.03 = total overage charges.

Example
Authorized allowance: 0 - No data plan
Sum (Phone data sent and data received totals): 2 213 752 B
2213752 / 1024 = 2161.87 KB total used
2161.87 * 0.03 = $64.86 in usage charges.

You need to write down, or record the information on your data counters on the cycle date for your billing cycle. This will be the 5th, 10th, 15, 20th, 25th or the last day of the month, see question number 5.
