Setting up your HTC S621 with your GCI.net (POP3 or IMAP) email account

Internet Settings

Note: At this time you must choose if you want to use MMS activities or Web Browsing activities. Step 8 determines which you can use. It is unknown if it is possible to perform both functions, GCI is continuing to explore this area.

1. From the front screen select Start

2.Scroll to and select Settings

3. Scroll down to and select Connections

4. Scroll down to and select GPRS

5. Select New

6. In the description field enter GCI MMS

7. In the Connects to: field scroll left or right and select Work

8.Scroll down and highlight the Access point: field and enter: wap.gci

9. Scroll through the User name: and Password: field leaving them blank

10. In the Authentication Type: field, scroll left or right and select None

11. Scroll through the Primary DNS: and Secondary DNS: fields leaving them blank or 0.0.0.0

12.Sroll through the IP address: field and leave it blank

13. Select Done

Multimedia Settings

1. From the front screen, select Start

2. Scroll to and select Messaging

3. Scroll to, highlight MMS and select Menu from the bar located on the bottom of the screen

4. Select Settings

5. Select the Menu bar located on the bottom of the screen, select MMSC Settings

6. From the Menu located on the bottom of the screen, select Edit

7. In the Name: field enter or confirm GCI MMS

8. In the MMSC URL: field enter or confirm http://mmsc.gci.csky.us:6672/

9. In the WAP gateway: field enter or confirm209.4.229.92

10.In the Port: field enter or confirm 9201

11. In the Connect via: field, scroll left or right and select Work

12.In the Max sending size: field use the default of 300K

13. In the WAP version: field scroll left or right to select 1.2

14. Click Done

Your HTC S621 is now configured.

Setting up your HTC S621 with your GCI.net (POP3 or IMAP) email account

1. From the front screen, select Start

2. Scroll to and select Messaging

3. Select New E-Mail Address

4. Enter your email address and select Next from the bottom of the menu bar. (example: username@gci.net)

5. Auto set-up will attempt to locate the email address

6. Select Next

7. In the Your name: field enter your name

8. Click Next

9. In the Username: field enter your user name. This is normally the part of the email before the @ symbol. (example username)

10. In the Password: field, enter the password of the GCI email account.

11. In the Click Next

12 In the Automatic Send/Receive: field select the frequency to check email. Select one

• Every 5 minutes
• Every 10 minutes
• Every 15 minutes
• Every 60 minutes
• Every 2 hours
• Every 4 hours
• Once a day
• Manually

13 If you need to check or enter the settings manually:

• Incoming mail server: mail.gci.net
• Account type: POP3
• Username: Enter your username
• Password: Enter the password for the email address
• Save Password: GCI recommends box is checked
• Outgoing mail server: smtp.gci.net
• Outgoing server requires authentication: is checked
• Use the same name and password for sending e-mail: is checked
• Automatic Send/Receive: select an option
• Download message: select an option
• Message Format: HMTL
• Message download limit: select an option

Your device should now be ready to send or receive email from your gci.net account.
