Adding GCI email to Netscape 7.2 email client to view and send email.

How to

Steps

1. Go to http://www.netscape.com
2. Click on the Mail icon in the lower left corner
3. Click on Create a new account
4. Ensure Email account is selected. (default setting), Click Next

5. Enter a Friendly Name in the Your Name,

Enter your emaill address.

5a. Click Next

6. Make sure the black dot is inside the circle next to POP for server type,

and then in the Incoming Server text box enter mail.gci.net

6a. Click Next

7. Enter your username. The username is normally the portion of the email address before the @ symbol.

Click Next

8. Enter a name to represent this account. You can use the examples provide on the screen, or in this example the email address was used.

Click Next

9. Click Finish

10. You will be prompted for the password for this email account. Enter your password.

You may chaeck the Password manager to remember the password, so you will not be prompted to always enter the password.

Click OK

11. If you have mail on the GCI server, you will see email come into you new mail account.
12. Highlight the email account.  
13. Right Mouse click on the mail box name. In this example on ssommers@gci.net
14. Highlight the word Properties, then click on the Left Mouse button.
15. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP)

16. Ensure this screen is set as follows:

Server Name: smpt.gci.net

Port: 25

Check Use name and Password

Username: Enter your gci_username

Use secure connection:

No radio button marked.

 

17. Click OK You can now receive and send email using this program.
