Cable Maintenance

Maintenance typically occurs between the hours of 7am and 6pm during that time you may see intermittent loss of service to total loss of service. Maintenance is ongoing in the following cities.

If you are calling due to a red light on the front of your cable box this light indicates a message from GCI. To view message and to delete message select menu on your remote and on the Quick menu go to the House Icon and hit Select. Scroll down to the second page and select Message, after opening the message you can delete the message by selecting the X at the bottom of the screen and selecting ok.
Due to an update Closed Captioning has been inadvertently turned on for some customers. In order to turn off CC please perform the following instructions:

For Pace brand set top boxes follow these instructions
1. Press the power button to turn your set top box off
2. Immediately after pressing power press “menu”
3. Scroll down to and highlight “Closed Captions” and press the OK/Select button
4. Highlight “CC” and press the OK/Select button to set CC to OFF
5. Press the power button to exit the menu and turn your set top box back on

For Motorola set top boxes follow these instructions
1. Press the power button to turn your set top box off
2. Immediately after pressing power press “menu”
3. Press the down arrow to highlight “Closed Caption”
4. Press the right arrow to change this feature to “disabled”
5. Press power to exit the menu and turn the box back on.

If you are having problems with your email and need to reset your password to your e-mail account, you can do so by going to the gci.net website and log into you’re My GCI account.

If you receive an email requesting you to confirm your email address, do not reply with the requested information, this is a phishing scam email. Remember, GCI will never request that you enter sensitive or personal information in an email.

If you are receiving an email with the following, this is not from GCI either:

Attention! Several attempts to log into your GCI email account have been logged to foreign IP numbers.
Please reply with your Username and Password for verification or your email account will be suspended within 72 hours.

If you are receiving an email from GCI requesting you to download any files or patches, please delete this email immediately, this is not a legitimate email from GCI.

If you are receiving any of the emails above, there is no need to contact GCI Technical support, as our administrators are aware of the issue.

Internet Service Maintenance - This maintenance begins 2009/08/05 and ends 2009/08/06 04:00:00 GMT-8. GCI Core Engineering will be performing maintenance on the Internet Platform between the hours of 0000 and 0400 on 08-05-09. Customer will experience internet latency and brief outages during the maitenance window.

Anchorage Cable Modem Maintenance - This maintenance begins 2009/07/10 01:00:00 GMT-8 and ends 2009/07/10 04:30:00 GMT-8. On July 10, 2009 between the hours of 0100 and 0430, GCI personnel will perform maintenance on the Anchorage Cable Modem platform. Some cable modem customers will experience a brief service interruption during the maintenance period.

Anchorage Dialup Network Maintenance - This maintenance begins 2009/07/10 01:00:00 GMT-8 and ends 2009/07/10 04:30:00 GMT-8. Starting on 10 July 2009, between the hours of 0001 and 0430, GCI personnel will perform maintenance on the Anchorage Dialup Network. Anchorage dialup customers will experince a brief outage as routing is changed.

Anchorage Military cable modem maintenance - This maintenance begins 2009/07/10 and ends 2009/07/10 04:30:00 GMT-8. On July 10, 2009 between the hours of 0001 and 0430, GCI personnel will perform maintenance on the Anchorage Cable modem platform systems servicing the local military base. Some cable modem customers will experience a brief service interruption during the maintenance period.

Juneau Maintenance - This maintenance begins 2009/07/01 00:30:00 GMT-8 and ends 2009/07/01 04:30:00 GMT-8. On 7/1/09 between 00:30 - 04:30 Gci will be performing maintenance on Juneau's internet services. We anticipate no outage other than slight latency. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and apologize for issues beyond our control.

Fairbanks Cable Modem Maintenance - This maintenance begins 2009/06/30 02:30:00 GMT-8 and ends 2009/06/30 04:30:00 GMT-8. On June 30th 2009 between the hours of 0230 and 0430, GCI personnel will conduct maintenance on the Fairbanks data cable modem platform. Some Fort Wainwright users will experience a brief loss of service as their cable modem is reset
